Your technicians are always helpful and courteous. So are the ladies (and the boss) in the office. I am proud for my neighbors to see the H & I professional service techs in the clean H & I vans when they are parked by my house. The purpose of this website is to provide our customers, friends and prospects with as much useful information as possible.

Who We Are
Report
Hart & Iliff was founded in 1889 by two brothers-in-law, Nathan H. Hart and Louis S. Iliff. The company initially sold feed and grain, coal and building materials. Eventually Hart & Iliff branched out into selling heating oil and installing/servicing heating and air conditioning equipment. After a number of years operating as partners, Louis Iliff bought out Nathan Hart.

All fuels are rated based on their heat content. The unit of measure is a British Thermal Unit (BTU), which is the amount of energy needed to raise one pound of water one degree. Heating oil contains 140,000 BTUs per gallon, whereas propane contains only 91,300 BTUs per gallon. Therefore, it takes 1.53 gallons of propane to provide the same amount of heat as one gallon of heating oil.
