I contacted Trethewey Bros. As I need a new boiler and was also interested In a new hot water heater. Brian ca.me out on. 5/19. Today is 6/7. I was told by Brian that he would write up the estimate and email it. I have since left Brian a voice mail, called and spoke with receptionist twice, one older sounding woman said he is very busy, next younger sounding woman said he was out sick.

She went and looked on his desk, said estimate was not done and asked if I still wanted it? Why would I have this man come into my home top to bottom and not want the estimat? She confirmed my email, but still nothing. Trethewey Bros is a company I have used several times for my home as well as my brother's home who I dealt with his matters. I am completely disappointed in the lack of professionalism by this company. Being out or busy does not negate providing the consumer with a promised estimate after 3 weeks

Eddy from TBros came out to our home today in Jamaica Plain Ma. He did a wonderfully job. He was professional, timely, and transparent about the work he did to fix our plumbing issues. I really appreciate that their team has wonderful lines of communication and he was able to take a look at a past issue we had, which he put in to be repaired at a later date. I am very pleased with his professionalism. TBros is the way to go!

Wish there was an option for 0 stars. They had originally installed a new hot water heater last year and I was running into issues every other day where the pilot light was going out. After having to manually reset the pilot light every other day to have a warm shower and having the Trethewey Brothers team come out multiple times to try to resolve the issue, we got nowhere.

I wasted hundreds of dollars replacing parts and 20+ calls to Trethewey Brothers with no response. I had to resort to using a different company who solved the problem immediately (which Trethewey Brothers couldn't identify after multiple visits). Would not recommend Trethewey Brothers to even my worst enemy. Call someone else if you need help!

The tech came out quickly and was very friendly. We knew what the problem was, but wanted to get a quote on the cost to repair the leaky faucet. He suggested 2 different solutions and a rough estimate of cost and time, then charged us $165 for the "consultation". He was here for approximately 10 minutes. This is the first time a tradesman has charged us a fee just to take a look.

I had a tankless water heater installed. The TBROS crew, led by Brandon, did a great job with the installation, they were professional, courteous, responsive and the end result looks and functions very well. And Brandon came back promptly the next morning to finish a small item. Terrific experience so far. Service: Water heater installation

I have been using Trethewey Brothers for a number of years to service my furnace and for miscellaneous plumbing jobs. They are always incredibly responsive and reasonably priced. Their staff, both in the office and the plumbers that come out are professional, patient, responsive, and informative. I was talked into trying a more local plumber a couple of years ago and still regret it - mediocre service and high priced.

Last week I woke up at 5:00 to a burst pipe, and Trethewey Brothers came over quickly. I wholeheartedly recommend Trethewey Brothers any plumbing or heating issue you may have.

I called to see if I can get someone to come out and take a look at my boiler and fix it if possible. I expressed to them that I sent and email and haven't heard back. The receptionist then yelled at me And got the manager on the phone I told the manager my concern and he then told me that they have tons of calls so they can't just concentrate on means hung up the phone on me. They were completely rude and disrespectful and I would never give them my service.

*** BEWARE ***Submitted inquire on website and they emailed me the next day requesting photos. After they got the photos they stop responding and I gave them a call and the lady who answered was absolutely rude. Manager came on and yelled at my wife. I understand everyone is understaff but because you are understaff that doesn't make it okay to be rude to customers.

They are a shadow of what TBros were "back in the day". It's time they folded up shop and moved on. Gross over-markup on parts, multiple visits where only one was required, substituting inferior products without full disclosure. The only thing I can say good about them these days is that they do indeed arrive promptly for an emergency, but it's all downhill after that.

Chris fixed the Spirovent device on our Burnham boiler. He has a very professional manner and left the basement in a very clean state. Chris knew exactly what was needed to get us up and running again. Thank you so much for helping us fix our heating system problem, especially on a very cold Tuesday. It is great working with TBros!

We called Trethewey when our bathroom sink was clogged, and turns out the sink drain pipe was rusted through too! They removed some tiles behind the sink, replaced the piping, and we also needed to have the tiles replaced so we met with Dennis Meurer, of Meurer Construction and he put new backboard behind the sink and replaced the tiles expertly and neatly! Thanks to Trethewey Bros. And Dennis Meurer our Bathroom is now functioning and looking better than new!

I don't think I've ever experienced a better, more competent, more responsive plumbing firm than TBros! They know what they're doing, they come on time, and they do it right the first time. And, over the four years I've used them, each individual plumber with great to work with.

It all started with the initial phone call. I knew ahead of time that, I would be paying 150.00 just for them to show up but what can I say I needed hot water. The guy takes a look turns the pilot light back on looks at the side power vent and says you need a new motor.20 min wow then leaves but before doing so he says "if it shuts down again call us".

Well yes, I did but showed up at the store and spoke with Brian. After are conversation he states, "I will order the motor and call you tomorrow".long story short, I am still waiting for the call back telling me I have the motor ready to schedule an install.the 1 star is for answering the phone.lucky they got that never again.will use them for any service.

My wife and I had a great experience with TBros repairing several leaky faucets in our house. We were very pleased with the job done by Ed Smart, the technician. He was professional, courteous, and friendly. Ed was quite knowledgeable and explained just what he was doing every step of the way to make sure we were satisfied. We have used TBros before and wouldn't hesitate to hire them again and are happy to recommend them to anyone. Kevin Tringale & Brenda Pizzo

We had an urgent plumbing issue come up over the weekend outside of their normal appointment times. Not only did the owner of T-Bros quickly get back to me to schedule the soonest available appointment, he actually spent several minutes on the phone walking me through how to temporarily fix the issue so we could keep our water on in the mean time. I will definitely be calling them next time we need a plumbing repair!

When I called Tbros because I was having issues with the toilet tank mechanism, I knew that I would get an experienced plumber; I have been a customer for over forty years. But this time was different. Not only did my toilet get fixed, I was able to get a shower faucet that finally matched the tub spigot, and Eamon was able to detect a water leak in an area of in the basement half bath where mold was growing on insulation. Extremely happy with this company!

Woke up Saturday 3/21/2020 in the middle of the Covid19 Pandemic to no heat or hot water. Called Trethewey Bros, and their answering service took all of my info, and Bob called back within 10 minutes. Walked through the problem, and the brand of furnace. Instead of immediately sending someone out, he asked for a few photos, and then called back. He was able to walk me through troubleshooting on the phone. Had this not worked, he was taking all of our information, so the truck would be loaded with any type of part needed to get the job done in one trip.

Within minutes we were back up and running! Sunday 3/22/2020, he followed up with us to make sure we were still up and running, and were having no other issues. What a refreshing way to get things done. Looking our for his people and helping a customer.

I had moved into a condo that had an existing one year old Mitsubishi mini split system that had some issues, so I was referred to Tbros as they're a certified seller of that product. I called up and they scheduled me for an appointment on a Friday morning from 7-11am. Great, I took the day off from work and around 9am received a call from a guy named Bob telling me, "Sorry, we scheduled two people for HVAC services today and we only have one technician.

We have to cancel. We are rescheduling you to Monday. You will be our first customer of the day. We guarantee it." Well, at least they called. On Monday I stayed home from work for the first half of the day. The clock kept ticking until I called them around 10am, at which point I was told, by Bob again, "Oh no, we forgot to submit your appointment into the system. Sorry!

We will make you our first appointment Wednesday morning. We guarantee it! I'm so sorry we made this mistake, but you don't stay in business for over 100 years by not making things right!". I was really frustrated, but decided on the Wednesday appointment and took another half day off from work. No one showed. I called up and was told, by Bob again(!), "Sir, we have no idea who you are and have never spoken to you and have no record of you." I flew off the handle and then suddenly, "Oh, I see your name in the system. I'm very sorry. Heads will roll for this!

I guarantee you the first appointment Friday morning! It will be 7:00-11:00am". Suuure. By chance I had that Friday morning off from work as I had a dental appointment. No one showed up until 1:00pm, at which time I was at my office downtown when they called me to say, "Where are you?". I asked to speak to the owner ASAP. I then was transferred to someone else, who knows if it was really the owner, and I gave him the whole litany above.

When I was done, and had mentioned how I'd take a few days off from work, he said to me, "These things happen when you're busy." I again repeated how many times Tbros screwed up and how I'd taken my time off from work. The response, "As I said, these things happen when you're busy." Oh, do they? Well you won't be so busy any longer because I'll never be calling Tbros again.

This owner then said to me that he would schedule me for a Saturday appointment, but because it was a weekend I would have to incur a weekend surcharge of $20. Would he waive it for me after a last minute cancellation, two no-shows, and one arrivals that was two hours past the end time of the appointment? Nope! Here's the final insult. Two months later I opened my mailbox and actually received a bill for about $150 from Tbros for fixing my kitchen sink.

I called up and spoke to them and explained how they never got into my home and clearly billed the wrong account. I was actually told by their receptionist, "That's not possible. How could we have billed you if we never got into your place? How else could we have your name and address. You're responsible for this bill." I then told the receptionist to to listen to me one more time about how Tbros got my name and address and never showed up, but apparently stuck me with the bill for someone else with a similar name/address/account number.

I was then told, "Ohhh", followed by a promise that I'd be called back in no more than 10 minutes. 25 minutes later I received a call informing me that "It's all taken care of." I said, "Good. But I'm guessing you won't apologize?". I was told again, "The bill is taken care of." I can't comment on the service of their technicians, but for their customer service from bottom to top, they should be thanking me that they get even one star.

After reading all of the negative reviews, it is time to call the Attorney General and file bad business practices complaints against this place. I have been using Trethewey Brother for almost 20 years. At one time, the original owner was in charge and the place was dependable and reasonable. This is no longer true. He treated customers with courtesy and respect. Now, another person is in charge, and he is rude and unprofessional.

I have probably spent well over $20,000 through the years on my rental properties with them, and you think that this any customer like this would be given respect and treated with professionalism. Not the case. The last few years have been terrible, high prices and poor quality. On 7th December 2018, I called for a service call as one of my tenant's heat system was not working.

Mind you, these are the very same people who installed this system several years ago so one would assume that they know what they are doing. They sent a plumber who spent several hours and could not figure out was wrong, although the heat came on. Then, one week later, the heat went out again. this time they sent a more experienced plumber who spent 2 hours on the same problem.

The heat came back on. Then I got the invoices. I was billed over $400 for the first call and over $200 for the second call. I was shocked. I called the office and asked to speak with accounting about the invoices. I was put on hold for ten minutes. When someone came back on the call, I was told that the person I would need to talk to was out and that they would call later.

A few days later I received a call from the new owner who started to berate me and insult me. He told me that he was tired of my complaining. Can you imagine? He then went on to tell me that no one in the office wanted to speak with me. He accused my of bad mouthing his "boys" and said he was tired of my complaining. I reminded him that I was not complaining but that I wanted to understand why I was being charged so much for the same problem and it was obvious that the first service call was handled inappropriately.

I stated that it was the right of a consumer to ask about a bill that I felt was inflated and that he had no right to bully me over the phone. He got angry angry and said that another employee did not even want to talk with me, this person being the one who happens to answer the phones. He also told me that they do not guarantee heating repairs, and that I was out luck, even though they sent two different plumbers in a week for the same problem.

Why did one invoice have double the other? I was in shock. I guess these people have never heard of the term customer service. You do not insult a customer. Period. Full disclosure, there have been problems with this place for several years now. I caught an inflated invoice because I had the good sense to call and ask about the time charged. The plumber that they had sent for a job started charging me when they left the office.

The new owner had to adjust the invoice. If I had not called, then I would have been charged extra for the job. Guess that they see this as complaining. Another time on e plumber came out to start a job, and had to leave because he did not have the parts to complete the job. Them, another plumber came out and said the previous did not even need the parts and he completed the job. By the way, they never put their time on the invoice. You have to call to get the breakdown. Poor business practice.

I had scheduled an appointment to have our furnace serviced on a Saturday morning - it was a time sensitive issue and the only time we could be home to schedule the service. I was told when I booked the appointment that I would receive a phone call 10-15 minutes before the technician arrived. We received no call and no one came during the 4 hour window we were given.

When I called to ask when we should expect someone to arrive, I was told that the technician already came but no one answered the door. Since we live in a condo, the front door opens to common space and we cannot hear when someone knocks. They did not call because the technician was not given our phone number (which had been provided when the appointment was made).

When I called the dispatch, they said they were unable to come back same-day. Since this was time sensitive and it was their error (not providing a phone # to the technician to call as I was told), I was pretty adamant about this being remedied same-day and asked to talk with a manager. The customer service representative said she would have someone call me, and hung up on me.

I called back and she again hung up on me (as in - picked up the phone and put it back down). I called back thinking that was odd, and the woman said "stop calling" and hung up. We received no call back from a manager, no service for our furnace, atrocious customer service, and our house remains cold.

I hadn't used TBros in at least 15 years, but calling them seemed to be the simplest solution to getting a basement laundry sink installed since their shop is fairly close and I could stop in to place the order and schedule the work. Now I realize if I had devoted another few hours to finding another plumber I probably would have saved a good $500. Yes, I got an estimate - at least 4 hours or approx $600 for the installation based on a visual inspection by a representative - and to be fair, it came with the caveat that it could possibly take longer.

And sure, I knew I was paying top dollar for the actual sink and faucet themselves, but again the convenience seemed worth it at the time. The plumber arrived within the expected time at 10:45 am, and we spent about 15 minutes talking about the positioning of the sink and he began looking around at my system. I asked where the sink was after that time, and he informed me that he was "preparing a stock list" and that someone else would be bringing all the needed supplies from the shop. Interesting, I thought, that they didnt arrive with these fairly basic materials, including the sink which I had already paid for, particularly since they charge a $60 fee just to show up at your home (no one could really explain what that $60 was actually for - more than one employee could only offer "those are our rates" ).

So at 11:30, yes a full hour and a half later (at $125 an hour), the apprentice arrives with the materials to begin the job. I have a hot/cold supply and waste outlet already in place for the laundry so not much else needed to be prepared. By 2:30 I was really wondering how much longer this was going to take, and finally at 4pm my new laundry sink was installed.

The new copper supply pipes near the bottom of the sink basin aren't secured to anything really, and the can be moved back and forth with a light touch - just one strap further up above on the wall- I don't know if that's correct or not, but can't afford to have these guys over again. The bill for the install: $840, which is some 40% higher than the estimate. Sure, they noted in the estimate that "it could be higher, " but no reasonable explanation of what made it so much more time consuming/complicated (I suspect it was pretty straight forward) was offered.

Including the $600 I paid for the sink and faucet, this laundry sink cost me $1,500. The rest of the experience was fairly average I suppose; if you have more money than time, these guys might fit the bill.

We've used Trethewey in our small condo association for 28 years. Today they said the soonest they can fix a broken water heater is in 14 days. 14 days with no hot water -- no wait list; no consideration for long-term customers, no nothing. And served up with a whole lot of attitude! We're moving on.

Wow, what a disappointing experience I just had with TBros and wish I never called them. The drain in my house backup into washing machine then onto my basement floor so had a drain company clear it. In doing so they removed how the wash machine was tied into the drain, which is @ 3' off the floor and piped against code. Was like this when I bought the home in 1999. https://youtu.be/HW-_WA1Psi8 The above is a very close scenario that I have so I called TBros to give me an estimate and they called me back saying that the cost would be "time and materials".

Ok is that $1500 or $4000? So I asked for a better idea of a range, the lady said it is best if we send someone out. Ok seems common practice to me. Guy arrives at my house, I mention that I saw Rich in this video and would like this set up, after a short blank stare says that he has concerns with this set up because it is a different type of pump over the basin system type.ah really how so?

There are basically two types of pumps, centrifugal and screw and both systems we are talking about here are centrifugal. Also, both pumping systems we were talking about have the impellers sit in water idle so neither starts dry.don't understand his logic but whatever. What he then tried to sell me was a "power vented" system that would require me to run a new vent line up two floors, which the then informed me is illegal in Mass but works.

He has this same system in house so I shouldn't worry that it will not work. Seriously, you are recommending something that is illegal over the legal one that I asked for? Anyways, that wasn't an option so he came up with some other type of eye sore scenario. I asked him to price both. Then as he finished this (mind you this was less than 30 minutes) he said you have to pay for my time. $104 for him to come out scratch his head leaving me with less than confidence he knew what he was doing not to mention pushing an illegal recommendation on me. Needless to say I was first shocked then annoyed, why didn't someone tell me that I had to pay for him to come out when I spoke with them on the phone?

I ask for estimates all the time, I have never paid for someone to give me one but I have some people say that i would have to so thank you not interested. I would have not had him come out and merely called someone else. Why didn't this guy say something when he arrived? As if that wasn't annoying enough, he came out Monday here it is Thursday still no estimate or word from them. AVOID TRETHEWEY BROTHERS I know I will never call them after this!

Still annoyed that they screwed me out of $104 (yes I know I should have refused to pay since I did not agree to pay for him come out nor did they let me know I had to) but you gave me a recommendation as the plumber explained to me was illegal in Mass. I really should report them for that.

My general contractor installed a cheap kitchen sink and faucet when I bought my house in 2012. The stainless-steel sink, which was installed from under a granite counter, cracked in four places. The faucet looked state-of-the-art with a pull-out spray but started to leak this year. I decided to go to Trethewey Bros. for a better faucet replacement.

I also decided to have the plumber reverse a shower valve because its indicator said cold for hot and hot for cold. I chose a high-end Kohler faucet that was about $500. I also had a better sink already and wanted that installed. I stated this when I ordered the faucet. The person at the showroom said the sink installation could be problematic due to the granite counters.

I was overly confident because I thought I had measured the new sink exactly for the bracket holes in the granite. It took about 2 weeks before the actual service occurred, once the faucet had arrived. On the day of service, the Trethewey plumber arrived within the given 4-hour window. The sink-faucet installation was time-consuming and entailed sawing down the sink to fit the suspension brackets under the counter. Placing the sink required two people, so I gladly helped.

After all, no sink means no kitchen to anyone who cooks, as I do. The shower valve seemed at the time to be the easier issue. The plumber took apart the valve and inserted a reverse hot seat. He said it was working fine. We settled the bill for sink and shower valve (approx. $900). After two showers, the valve would not shut off. So, starting at 10 AM on Sunday, cold water was running in the shower because there is no designated shut-off for that bathroom.

I immediately called the Trethewey number. I got a call back around 1 PM. The man who called back said he would not be able to get anyone to me until Monday. To be fair, it was one of our coldest weekends. I explained that the water was running. He suggested I shut off the water for the whole house. Since our heat is forced hot water, I did not like that idea in freezing weather.

I was told the office opened at 7 AM Monday, and, if I didn't hear from them by 9 AM, to call. They called at 6:47 AM on Monday morning, but I happened to have left my phone in the kitchen and missed the call. I saw they called about 7:10 AM and called back. The friendly dispatcher said she had sent a plumber to another job when I didn't answer the phone. Meanwhile, our shower was still running.

I was given a window of 8 AM to 12 PM for the plumber to arrive. I told the dispatcher to just send the plumber because I would be here all day if necessary. I waited until approximately 11 AM to call the office back. I was placed on hold and was eventually told a different plumber was coming than the one originally here. He showed up, as promised, in about 30 minutes.

This plumber immediately conveyed a sense of confident friendliness. He was methodical and courteous. He took apart the leaking shower valve and the new part installed previously by the plumber on the first visit just fell out of the valve. It had not been placed correctly. Hence the severe leak. This plumber went to his truck, got a temporary part to fix that issue and also brought a new spindle to upgrade the old shower valve at my request and added expense (another $80 approximately).

He explained that he would order a replacement for the faultily installed part and would reschedule when it came in. He negotiated reduced labor charge for his visit with the office without me asking. Just over 3 weeks later, the second plumber came and completed the shower valve upgrade. I had braced myself for another bill and a conversation about the earlier valve part that had been messed up in the installation.

I was pleasantly surprised when the plumber handed me an invoice with no charge for that final visit. He said the company acknowledged that there had been inconvenience. Now that is a why I would recommend Trethewey to anyone looking for a good complete-service plumbing company. Anyone can make a mistake, but the test of a good business is how they make it right.

I called T Bros because they are a small, neighborhood business. My wife and I were looking to redo our bathroom. We got 4 estimates and Trethewey was by far the most outrageous. They came out right away to take a look. After that, we did not hear from them for several weeks. I told them up front our budget was no more than $15,000 for our 5ft x 9ft bathroom and we weren't looking for top of the line fixtures.

When the estimate finally came, it was $28,000 and it would take 5 weeks to complete. We have one small bathroom. Obviously, we did not go with them. They are nice people, but if you are remodeling, look to someone else.
