Little perplexed about a quote over the phone on a system that is less than 3 years old and apparently needs to be looked at. If you call during off hours it's about $300 an hour in which the time starts from the moment the tech leaves the previous job? I'm sorry but why are we paying for that travel time? A mechanic doesn't charge me when I'm on the way to the shop.

If you call and schedule during regular business time, it's about $200. I read a review in which Suburban responded to another post stating they don't charge unless you have the intent to buy something. Well I intend to have my unit up and running. Why don't you charge me for that instead off a technicians travel time? I understand it can be a 2 hour job but it can also be a 30 min job in which it would suck to have to pay $300+ an hour because of where the technician is coming from.

That is unacceptable. This was a big job when I contracted Suburban and was initially satisfied with the system but didn't expect it to stop working so suddenly just before summer hits. I would think you would at least honor the work being around the corner from your office as I tried to give a local company work. Update 5/21/22 I was at work and received a call from suburban earlier in the day to say they could have a tech at my address between 12-4.

Mind you I never scheduled with them. I told them I'd call to schedule if needed. I'm coming home from work and could see they are parked in my driveway through my security system. I was 15 mins away. I get home and the tech is ready to get to work but I haven't agreed to any service. I asked what he was going to do since I got my system up and running?

According to dispatch he would perform the tune up and what ever the system might need additionally for $192 an hour plus material. I declined and received a cancellation bill in the mail. I never scheduled with them for them to bill me. Their practices are unconventional and unacceptable.

Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness Suburban charged $80K for an HVAC system that hasn't worked properly since it was installed several years ago. But when we call for service, they will not fix it. Other HVAC folks who have come since have noted shoddy quality of the install due to Suburban cutting corners, which is likely why the system has never worked well.

Suburban HVAC replaced our oil furnace with a high efficiency gas furnace and a Smart thermostat. Their staff was professional, responsive, operated safely, and finished in only a day and a half. We would definitely recommend them! They also did a duct cleaning in April 2022. Plus when our oil tank removal resulted in kitchen damage (done by another company) they worked to make it right. Bobby Rinn was a great sales rep.

First, the home maintenance insurance company sent a tech who was not Carrier certified. He did not troubleshoot the problem but relied on the error code from the system and said we needed an expensive new part, but he was having difficulty procuring it. We did not have heat for six days. We called Suburban who sent a Carrier specialist. He methodically trouble shooted and found a much simpler cause of the problem and had the heat back on within a few hours at much lower cost.

I enthusiastically recommend Suburban HVAC. They installed a new heat pump and heat pump water heater to replace my aging oil boiler. They were recommended to me by my solar installers Revision Energy. I was immediately struck by their commitment to green energy as the future. Other companies clearly were still set in their ways, and didn't have the experience or the commitment to modern heating/cooling systems that Suburban had. Bobby Rinn, who was my point man on the install, was helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and responsive.

The crew was always prompt and respectful of both my privacy and property, and worked quickly, cleanly, and efficiently getting the new system installed. Like any new system, it needing a little tweaking before it was running perfectly. An old line-set from my old central system started leaking when the higher pressure from the new pump ran through it. Suburban was out there the next day, and swiftly and without complaint replaced the line-set and made sure the system was running perfectly before they left. I have nothing but good things to say about the technicians, the office staff, and everybody I came in contact with at Suburban.

I selected suburban after getting quote from 4 other companies. They were in middle (meaning not too expensive) for the quote, and most importantly very responsive on quote related question even on weekend. With thanksgiving and then Christmas they were able to quickly get my old furnace replaced, and then followed up with ac unit replacement. During the process they were very calm and addressed every of my questions and concerns.

The technician they sent were very professional too and wore masks inside the house along with booties. (To give context my prev company who services refused to wear booties stating OSHA or something). Highly recommended and they are very reasonable int he price.

Adjust your expectations: These guys were recommended to me (and they had pretty good reviews, but this won't be one of them) so I called as I have some issues with the design of my 2nd floor HVAC system. I wanted to see if they would come out and assess how it could be improved. Called the office and explained exactly that. The response? Well your system is 15 years old and probably needs to be replaced. No, it's working fine but I need someone with some design experience to take a look, not a technician who does repairs.

Ok someone will get back to you. 3 days later no call so I called again. The exact same conversation with the suggestion that the system probably needs to be replaced. Really? Apparently it's ok for someone who answers the phone to diagnose these things over the phone and that is their go to response. Re- explained the situation. So, I was able to schedule a "phone appt" a week later with someone with design experience or so I was told. Had the conversation again, explaining what I was looking to accomplish.

The response? I assume you're looking for someone to come out at no charge? Well, yes, this is for a consultation and a proposal to fix the issue. Ok, I'll get back to you. It's now been two weeks since I was told someone would get back to me. Nada. Guess they charge to make assessments of projects (new installations as well?) and if you're not willing to pay they just don't bother with you. Also very skeptical of a company where their immediate response without even seeing the system in question is that it needs to be replaced. Buyer beware.

Highly recommend Suburban! Bobby, Mark and Rich were all professional, friendly, and very helpful with our questions. The installation team of Mike and Kevin were fantastic, extremely respectful of our house, organized and thorough. Our heat pumps, heat pump water heater, thermostats and hot water recirculator are working great, very quiet and reliable so far. Definitely give Suburban a call.

I recently had a mini split installed by Suburban. Bobby was very helpful and professional throughout our entire experience. The installers were great. They arrived on time, were pleasant to work with and cleaned up when they were finished. When Bobby came back for the final check in, he had all of our rebate information filled out and ready for us, and quickly installed the app on my phone. Will highly recommend them.

From the first interaction with Suburban they were awesome. They called me with an opening for an estimate a few days earlier than scheduled. Bobby was super knowledgeable and his quote was about $10k less than others we received. Nick and Brian, who did the install, were professional, polite and overcame many obstacles that popped up working on our old house.

We barely knew they were here while they worked. Bobby came back to do on-boarding and final paperwork. They even help with all of the Mass Save Rebates. I've already referred them to a few friends and clients (and will continue to do so). It's nice to support a family run business and it's even better when that support is rewarded with an excellent experience. I'd happily recommend Suburban HVAC to anybody looking.

Suburban is a great place to have your services handled professionally with knowledgeable staff. They have handled my business for over 30 years with quick reliable service at a reasonable price. Joe, Rita, Cindy & the Suburban team have always been a reputable and dependable source for our needs. Last month my home AC unit was acting up so I called for a maintenance visit.

The technician was very personable and professional. He found the system was shot so he notified the office and they moved quickly to replace it. The unit was replaced and there was no sign they were even here as they cleaned up everything. My neighbor said he used Suburban after he got 3 prices & Suburban was the most competitive & he was impressed with the service. I'd recommend Suburban to anyone without hesitation. Suburban-HVAC was exceptional! We put in a central air system from scratch. The crew was extremely hard working, friendly and courteous. Our advisor, Kenny was just great was super responsive. It did take a while to get our quote in the beginning and I heard a friend had the same experience so went with another company. Once we go our quote and signed the contract, the job was scheduled and everything ran according to schedule. Be patient waiting for the quote because it is definitely worth it to work with Suburban. I would enthusiastically recommend!

January 27, 2021 This is absolutely a first rate company in every aspect! Suburban just completed removal of my oil burner and installation of a new gas boiler. Without meaning to, I made mistakes almost every step of the way with things that were my responsibility- failing to sign papers on time, not having a new meter installed ahead of time and failing to schedule inspections for prior work.

This meant Suburban had to stop the installation several times and it turned a one day job into a four day job, over a two week period. They never once complained, and although the extra trips must have certainly increased their costs, they never passed those increases on to me. The guys that did the actual install were just fantastic. They never complained or got upset as they hit the numerous delays caused by my errors.

They were always there on the dates/times they said they'd be, they were neat, they were courteous, they were professional, they were competent and they updated me each step of the way. When the install was complete, they left the area cleaner than it was before they started! I was so impressed with them I sent the owner a note telling him I wish I had guys like them when I had my own business.

Every person I dealt with at Suburban - Richard, Bobby, Mark, Phil, Sam and Beverly - was not only professional, they were also kind and understanding on a personal level. I'd never dealt with this company before and I didn't know any of the personnel before, so based strictly on how they performed their service, I can say without hesitation, this is absolutely a first rate company in every aspect.

I just had a new gas furnace and central AC installed. I started with calling for an estimate. I first spoke with Beverly who answered the phone. Beverly was very courteous and took her time in answering a few questions before scheduling an appt. with Kenny for an estimate. Kenny arrived on time with a face mask and gloves on since we are in the covid pandemic.

He was very pleasant and courteous. He explained the whole process to us. There was no heavy marketing involved with his visit. We received an estimate a few days after Kenny's visit. I found Suburban HVAC estimate to be reasonable and a good product. We hired them and an appt was made within 2 weeks. The day of installation the two installers came wearing masks.

They were here for about 7hours/day for 2 days. They were quiet, courteous and left each day with a clean work area. I am very pleased that I chose Suburban both for their product and professionalism. Extra thumbs up to Kenny who stuck with us from the beginning to the end of the project. I feel comfortable calling or texting him if I have any future problems which I don't foresee.

I was in need of a central AC System and received about 5 quotes. Bobby from Suburban provided the best quote and did not seem to upsell. On the day of installation, the crew worked really hard. It was actually the hottest day of summer. When it was installed, the Goodman unit has worked perfectly. I set it at 68 and cools the entire house. After the install, Bobby came bay to check on the installation. I would recommended working with Suburban as the price was very fair, workmanship was excellent and now i have a cool house in the summer.

We had a high efficiency gas boiler/hot water combo installed about 12 years ago. We have had numerous problems. shower going cold- fire in the unit resulting in no heat/hot water for three weeks last winter. Now a leak so we called someone new. Apparently it's been leaking for a while and needed $100 in parts/labor to get it up and running. Suburban sends very nice people out and they seem to know what they are doing- they have corrected installation mistakes and done their best.

But they have not maintained it properly or fixed all of the problems so we are switching to a different company. We just spent $1000 to stop the leak and repair some corrosion- we probably need a new unit soon. We won't be using Suburban, and we won't be installing another Bosch.

Had issues with the heating in my daughter's room. Had another company out who told us that it was a duct problem and that the whole lot would have to be replaced and then would not answer emails or calls (they had recently upgraded the system for the previous owners). Called suburban for a second opinion - came on time, figured out the issue (which turned out to be minor) and fixed it. Exactly what we wanted. Thanks for your help - much appreciated coming into a cold winter.

I needed a replacement AC coil and condenser. From the first phone call to Suburban through receiving the final paperwork I was extremely impressed with this company. Their quote was fair, definitely not the highest quote I received. Their staff is courteous, professional and knowledgeable. The only glitch was after 3 days, I turned on my AC and the condenser wasn't working.

This happened during a hot summer weekend. I called and reached someone on the first try. Turns out they have weekend coverage, a bonus. They sent a tech out an hour later. It turns out a wire was loose. Everything worked out. I've worked with many contractors and this is the first time I feel the need to share my experience because it was as good as it gets.

Had this company come over recently for a quote to revamp my heating and also put in AC. The employee who came was super nice and friendly and we were looking forward to working with them. However, after the employee gave us his initial plan, when I finally spoke with him several days later (it was extremely difficult to get a hold of him) he told me instead of the original suggestion of conversion of steam heat to a combi system through the radiators, they actually couldn't use the radiators and then said they would want to do forced hot air and central AC.

Totally different than the initial suggestion. What was much more concerning however was it was nearly impossible to get in touch with this individual who visited our house. After this recommendation, I sent him multiple emails with follow up questions and asked for a quote. I actually finally asked if he was still interested in the job at all because he was not responding - and I still didn't get a response. They totally ghosted. It was extremely poor communication. If they didn't want the job they could have at least let me know. I did not appreciate the way I was treated.

I asked Suburban HVAC in Westwood to repair a failed controller board in a York AC air handler. The air handler fan would not turn off and I knew it was a stuck relay on the control board. I even identified the control board part number which could be bought online for $150. But I called Suburban HVAC to come and fix it. So they sent a technician who spent over an hour diagnosing the problem and they charged me $295 merely for diagnosing.

Understand that I was able to diagnose the problem in less than an hour. Then they quoted me $870 to replace the controller board and install a float switch. The controller board can be bought for $150. I bought the controller board for $150 online and installed it myself in 2 hours. I didn't buy a float switch but those cost $25 and are easy to install.

So Suburban charged me to $295 to diagnose a problem I was able to diagnose myself and then they quoted me $870 for a job that I did myself in 2 hours with a $150 part. So I am very disappointed in Suburban HVAC's predatory pricing.

I have had the best experiences with Suburban! Last winter they came urgently in the middle of a snow storm to try and fix my gas furnace. The part was not readily available due to the age of my system. They were able to get the parts ordered from somewhere in MA and were back at my house first thing the next morning to have the issue resolved. They couldn't have been better!

This year I bought a new gas furnace and central AC through the Mass Save program. Bobby was my salesman and he was great. I loved his personality. He was a real person. No scripts. I hate scripted salesmen. He was super helpful with all the paperwork I needed to fill out for MassSave and he was always available to answer questions. The technicians were wonderful!

Clean and efficient. Kenny even helped move stuff in my garage (which had nothing to do with his job) so that i could pull my car in for the impending snow storm that day. I highly recommend this company to anyone!

Fantastic experience from the first interaction. Jess Callahan at Suburban was recommended to us from our real estate agent and she really delivered. She was incredibly responsive, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. Her crew did a great job getting central air added to our old center entrance colonial and the work was executed on time and professionally. Used Suburban for business purposes for several years. They were, at first, fast, efficient and reasonable. As the years went on something changed, there seemed to be a concerted effort to maximize billing. Guys would show up long before our business opened, and they would bill us for the time they sat in the truck. They would never tell us that their guy would be there early, if they had we would have made sure someone was on site to let them in to begin working.

When challenged, their mindset was pretty much "that's the way we do it" without a care for our concerns of being overbilled. That's just a small sample, but there were other instances that would take too long to convey.

We used Suburban today for the first time. The technician was efficient, knowledgeable, and honest. He fixed our system and offered some tips for the future. I feel great about about or experience and feel the cost was fair for the job. Would highly recommend.

Years ago, my AC didn't work at the beginning of the summer. I called a HCAC company. They sent a technician out. The man looked at my system and said that I "needed a new motor". I am no expert in HCAC but I knew that my outdoors compressor was working. So, suspicious that I would have to pay over $2,500 to replace the motor, I paid him for his service about $80 for the diagnostic visit" and sent him on his way.

I then called Suburban. Later that day they sent a young man who came and looked at my AC system for 5 minutes. He looked up at me and said, "the thermostat sensor is shot, needs to be replaced" "How much?" I asked him. He said, "about $65, and I have the part in the truck". In about 15 minutes, he had the part replaced, and the air pumping through my house became cold and wonderful.

I have kept their number ever since. This summer, my AC had trouble again. The Suburban tech came out, replaced the Freon in the system, and my house was cold again. So when I woke up this morning to a hot house, my first thought was to call Suburban. My compressor was not working this time. When I called Suburban, they told me that they could send out a tech on an emergency basis, but it would be expensive since it was a Sunday.

They asked if I had tried resetting the power to the compressor, turning it off and back on. I did that, and lo and behold, my compressor started back up and now my house has wonderful AC again. From my experiences with Suburban, I would say that these are honest, competent people who can help you, and are not trying to fleece you for the maximum amount of money.

They could have sent out a technician today and charged me an arm and a leg. But they tried to save me the money and trouble by giving me their very useful suggestion. I think that every HVAC company out there has technicians who are trained and know how to fix your air conditioning. But I really appreciate it when I find a company which is not only competent, but honest. I give them my highest recommendations.
