Good customer service and I guess reasonable pricing. HVAC is always expensive and the labor prices seem to be skyrocketing which I understand is do to inflation and gas prices. So if you have deep pockets I'm sure your going to be happy with the service you receive.

$311 for a capacitor that you can get for $15-$50, and 10 minutes of labor. I was told that it was so high because they made the trip (not true, I already paid $49 for a general health check), and because my AC wasn't working (not true, tech verified it worked great but I might consider a new part in case it broke down later). If you assume they put in a premium part, layered on a healthy markup, and absorbed the cost of the warranty, the rate on their labor works out to about $1,200 per hour.

According to homeguide.com (https://homeguide.com/costs/hvac-repair-cost) the average rate of labor for HVAC repair should be $100 - $150 / hr. The moral of the story is I agreed to the price, trusting Pope's, before doing research. That turned out to be a mistake. Buyer beware!

We had a leaking under the sink. I found them from Google. The service man was friendly and told us to order new faucet and we got one. He postponed the schedule a couple of times and fixed anyway. However we still had the leaking after he is gone. We paid $275 to change the faucet. We called him again to fix however he told us to pay another $300 and I said you just fixed it and my purpose was to stop the leaking however you did not finish the job and offered another $100 and he did not accept.

While he was changing faucet he said the pipe is looking good and no need to change it and I agreed. It was about $100 more but since he is the expert I said okay. Anyways asking another $300 for an unfinished job is not a nice thing. If you are fixing something you need to finish it. Not recommended!

I was referred to Pope's air from a neighbor of mine and I have to say WOW! I am in the process of buying a new home and the home inspection found issues with the system on the house I was buying. I reached out to schedule an appointment and from the very first call, all the way through the actual inspection and resolution of issues I was faced with, I was extremely impressed with their customer first mentality!

I never felt like I was being taking advantage of, in fact I learned so much a long the way. I will have a long lasting relationship with this company and highly recommend them! They are top notch! Thank you Pope's Air for being awesome to work with!

I have had a maintenance agreement with Pope for a few years. The price is fair and they come out twice a year. The technicians have all done a good job with maintenance of our system. They are polite and respectful. However, they are only getting three stars because I do have a complaint. The last few times they came out the techs have each tried to sell us a new system, saying we have "issues" with one thing or another.

Our HVAC system is admittedly not new, but before spending thousands of dollars, we have asked for second opinions. And every time so far we have found we don't need to replace our system just yet. Last year the estimate we received from Pope's technician was to replace the entire HVAC because we supposedly cannot just replace the AC, and this year the tech (different one) told us to replace the furnace and no need to replace the AC.

So which is it? I realize that selling new systems is part of the business lifeblood. But is it too much to ask for people to be honest? Overall this is a good company that will provide good maintenance service, just be careful if you are told you need a new system.

Highly recommend Popes Air to anyone looking for honest and committed staff. I called recently about an HVAC issue and they exceeded expectations by providing same day support (within hours really). Ashely on the phone is a pleasure and JR is an experienced serviceman with an unmatched desire to help your system run optimally. Service: Repair HVAC

When I say I went through hell with my AC, I am in no way exaggerating - from July 3 to Aug 4, a month and a day in the summer heat streak, I was without AC and dealt with many other companies, even having one come out and try to install the wrong unit. until Pope's - Pope's techs are angels. I have a condo with a through the wall balcony unit, and heating/cooling hydro coils in the bathroom ceiling, on the top floor, this is no simple task. they went so far above and beyond to make sure everything was installed correctly and with as little damage as possible.

So many other companies told me they wanted to uninstall my water heater for access, or rip open my ceiling. And to be fair Pope's warned me they might have to make some minimal cuts in the drywall for some of the waterline connections, but the installers worked incredibly hard to make sure that didn't happen. The next day I noticed that I had some water coming out of a vent - immediate panic.

A quick call to Pope's and they had someone out to investigate the next day. Thankfully not a leak, but just condensation because the new unit did not have the casing the old one did, so it was too cold in a high moisture bathroom. Pope's solution? A custom hand-made half casing to help the air redirect more efficiently - and to top it off they added sound-dampening material because I had mentioned the new unit was louder and it bothered me.

They took care of everything just to make sure I was happy with how everything turned out. Every single person who came, from the estimator, to the (many) techs was incredibly kind, understanding, and never hesitated to hear me out or answer my (many) questions. 10/10 would recommend

AC unit went out during the summer; of course, Pope installed the unit previously, (HVAC duct tape instead of proper seals) won't go into that issue. I purchased an extended warranty; it made sense at the time. AC motor and capacitor failed three seasons later. Upon the May initial contact, everyone was cordial and friendly. After my follow up, based on no status by the end of June, I called, an update of no available motor was available (understandable regarding COVID-19).

I scheduled an appointment with the option of paying more for a general motor for the AC also, the installation of the filter tray that was not installed previously by Popes air (I had to pay for this). Pope's definition of install, cut side of ductwork and nail 12" sheet metal into the subfloor, after contacting Popes Air regarding this "discounted" work, the service agent instructed the original estimate technician would be in contact with me, "clarify the differences of filter racks." Moral of this interaction, If you can measure, have subpar mechanical skills, modest set of tools, and require long-lasting quality work, select only work that you are incapable of doing yourself.

We have been customers of Pope's Air for almost 20 years. They Have always been helpful and responsive with great advice and service. JR was out recently and fixed our unit which turned out to be a quick fix due to the extremely hot weather in July. He is always very informative and pleasant. We are lucky to have Pope's take such good care of our HVAC.

2 reasons for this review. My A/C is definitely on its last legs, but thanks to Pope's we're hobbling forward at least through (fingers crossed) next summer. J.R. was so good explaining where the problems are & how to keep hobbling. Hundreds, not thousands. We've used Pope's for air & heat (with an unconventional setup) and are so happy with them. I've had competitors (paid) come out & always ultimately gone with Pope's. Never disappointed. Plus, J.R. had an awesome ladder. I admit, I had some ladder envy & had to buy one for myself. THANKS AGAIN!

We hired Pope's Air to fix our heat and they sent JR who was very professional. He did a fantastic job and figured out the problem quickly which was very helpful and kept the cost down. We have a very old system and there were no pressure sales tactics. JR was very upfront and honest with everything that was required to get our heat running properly. We were very pleased with JR and will hire Pope's Air for any future heating and cooling issues.

$195 for a $14 Part. Pope's charged me $195 for a capacitor for my compressor; found the same capacitor on Amazon for $14. When I spoke to the manager about lowering the price to something reasonable, he was completely unwilling to consider charging a fair price. Recommend avoiding Pope's like the plague.

We had Pope's Heating and Air Conditioning come to our home for the annual check-up of our Air Conditioning and Heat Pump. The technician who came was JR. He was very polite, courteous, and professional in performing his work. We were very satisfied with the check-up and the work required to ensure correct operation for the winter. We would not hesitate to recommend Pope's Heating and Air Conditioning to anyone, and we thank them for their excellent service.

They stand behind the guarantee. J.R. is the best service guy I had in 50+ years. I think they send him for the tough problems. A really smart and nice guy. If you're looking for an HVAC company I would recommend Pope.

Let them installed the unit probably 2-3 years ago. Right after installation, I can hear the unit was very loud. The person who installed it said it was normal, because outside was very hot. So I trusted his words, but it keeps making the noise. never been quiet. I did not think much, until I went to my friends' house who I recommend pope;s air to him, his machine is running very quiet.

I am very disappointed. it means the guy who installed my machine did not install it well, or my machine has some problem, however the guy lied to me. He just did not want to dig into the issue.

Pope's Air replaced my old furnace and now replaced my central air. "Stick to it -ness" is how I describe this company. There were a few obstacles to installing the new furnace up to code in an old house and there were obstacles installing/replacing the AC as well. These gentleman worked literally all day and into the night. Most of it spent in a cramped attic area at well over 100 degrees.

They stayed as hydrated as possible. This was no straight forward job, but they problem solved and ultimately installed an outside unit and air handler. The primary technician, Bill, really did a great job and later came back with his supervisor to inspect it. The unit runs smoothly, is energy efficient, and I am very pleased. The technicians for Pope's Air are down to earth.

They explain everything in a straightforward manner, do not make unrealistic promises, and they stick to the agreed upon estimate. Pope's Air did my furnace and now my air. Both were a challenge and I feel like they are old friends. I would definitely recommend this company.

We had our dryer vent cleaned and the guys that came did a wonderful job. They were patient in answering all my questions and even double checked to make sure that the tubing to the dryer was attached on properly! Definitely will ask for Alex and Abderr the next time we need them to come out.

After my review the company came and fixed our indoor system, it works fine but this time our outdoor system failed and we need a new one. they refused to work with us again after our first review. I do appreciate them coming back and fixing our system the first time, but i am surprised they refused to ever work with us again when we were just being honest. take that information how you want.

We had a complete system replacement in Spring 2015 and after interviewing with 6 other companies decided to use Popes Air for the biggest bang for the buck. Installation was smooth and professional. After start up we had a few issues and their service was excellent. Problems were identified and resolved and they kept me advised as to what was going on. JR has been here a few times to address initial problems and follow up system inspections.

He and the other service technicians are very knowledgeable about my very computer oriented system. I have a service contract with Popes Air and plan to continue using them exclusively for the foreseeable future. I even hired them to replace my hot water heater. I highly recommend them.

This company has been a joy to work with. They have been awesome in helping to fix some problems caused by a different company that did a poor new HVAC installation. Their workers are quality and skilled professionals who are also a joy to be around. You truly can't get much better than Pope's Air!

3/4/14 8*inches of snow and 5 degrees, My tenants called me to say that the heat in my house went out and it was 50 degrees inside the house. I called a few companies and got voice mail But Popes Air put my through to their service manager Terry who got some info and scheduled the apt. The technician was JR who called me to tell me that the heater was working fine and the tenant had not changed the filters in a very long time which impeded the air flow and also the dampers were in a 1/2 shut position.

I was very impressed because he could have told me that I needed a whole new system or a costly repair but as it turns out it was covered in their one price diagnostic.fee. I was so happy with the outcome that I ordered a maintenance contract so they will come by twice a year.

Earlier this week, our AC was failing - an especially bad time as the DC area was sustaining a heatwave of 90+ days and 90%+ humidity. We called Pope's and they came out that day and fixed it. While there, they did an overall system check to ensure that everything else was working properly. Their technician was incredibly friendly and helpful.

We were especially fortunate that the repairs were covered under our manufacturer's warrantee (helps make we want to buy a Trane next time). We first came to Pope's after a competitive bid for a new HVAC system back in 2007. They had the lowest price and did excellent work.

I recently purchased a 3 ton Trane air conditioning unit with furnace, electronic zone dampers, air filtration system, and a whole house humidifier through Pope's Air Conditioning & Heating. I received multiple estimates from several HVAC contractors; Pope's gave me the best deal and also included 1 year of complementary maintenance service.

I knew Pope's would do a great job installing everything because my father highly recommended them to me after using them to purchase and install his Trane A/C. I was right. Pope's did an outstanding job installing the new unit along with all the add-ons. The crew was competent, knowledgeable, friendly and very professional. The install took 12 hours - Pope's did not rush to get the job done.

They went above and beyond to make sure I was happy and completely satisfied with their work. I appreciate that and I respect their integrity. Throughout the procurement process, I dealt with a comfort specialist (Chris) who answered all of my questions and was extremely helpful. I will admit that I am very demanding and I don't jump into a major purchase without first doing a lot of research and asking many questions. I'm sure I aggravated Chris but you'd never know it since he was always so professional and calm.

I also appreciate how Chris didn't try to sell me items I didn't want or need. Pope's is lucky to have stellar people like Chris. I highly recommend Pope's Air. There are dozens of HVAC contractors in NOVA/DC but Pope's is reliable, experienced, and competitively priced. Get your A/C system installed correctly - call the experts. Call Pope's!
