O'Connell Oil was founded in 1925 by Ralph Maurice O'Connell. The company began with a gasoline distributorship from Amoco to which was added a distributorship with Shell and eventually Gulf Oil. R.M.O'Connell further expanded the business by including the sale of heating oil. The business steadily grew during the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's to become the largest fuel and oil dealer in Berkshire County.
How we determine your budget payment amount: We determine your estimated annual usage in gallons, multiply that amount by an estimated average price per gallon for the upcoming heating season, this gives us the amount of your projected total fuel cost for the upcoming heating season. We divide that amount by 10 months/payments, .
At your request you can be put on our automatic delivery program. In todays busy world automatic delivery will give you one less thing to worry about. We estimate your usage from previous seasons to make sure you have the oil you need to keep you warm. We automatically fill your tank to maximum capacity as deemed necessary by our technicians.
We will analyze your homes central air conditioning needs taking into consideration not only the physical requirements of your home but also your personal and lifestyle needs. Our staff of professional air conditioning technicians will carefully install your air conditioning system and fully clean up when finished the installation.

I was on auto delivery. My tank almost ran out of oil 3 times because they said I had more oil than I actually did. I had to call them and tell them. Why have auto delivery? Also, we had a snow and ice storm. Truck couldn't make it up driveway. No one told me or left a note. I called them. The only way I knew was from tire tracks and running over driveway marker. Spoke to manager who was friendly.

He said to plow the driveway and they will try again. I said this will just make it icier. So I plowed the inch or two of snow off the ice. As I said it made it worse. Manager called me and raised his voice. Told me I have to call and must have "bare blacktop" and call when I need oil. Accused me of not treating the driveway. I plowed it as he asked.

I actually have photos. As soon as I was able to sand, I did. New oil company had no issues. You can't yell at your customers. If they only deliver to bare blacktop driveways they must not have any customers since most driveways in my area are dirt or have some snow on them. the old driver Bud who used to deliver for at least 20 years never had an issue.

Total price gouging. we booked a visit for their plumbers to stop over for a small sink drip. Non emergency. O'Connell's stated a rate of $150 an hour for the visit for the first hour. We agreed. The workers were on time and super nice. No issue with them. We needed a new kitchen faucet as ours had a drip. They were here perhaps 15 minutes and left to go to the warehouse for a replacement part. they had none.

They went to home depot for a similar part and came back with it. (new faucet) we asked the cost they stated the part was $85.00. we agreed. They installed it and tested it. No issues and they left. Time on site approx. to hours. Then 40 days later we get the bill for two hours of labor ($300) and the part their worker told us was $85 has now become $171.xx plus tax.

When I called over to inquire over the pricing the office worked said there was a markup on the item. I asked why did their worker state a price before the install then. And the mark up was $92, OVER the cost of the new faucet. And we were billed for the O'Connell's workers to drive around town and to homedepot for $150. I hope it was worth it. We canceled our furnace upgrade scheduled with them in ten day from now. Again workers were awesome, office workers and office manager not so much.
