Our AC died. Hutchinson dispatched a techician. Diagnosis? Replace a contactor. $560 for a $13 part and less than one hour on-site. Plus a $25 fuel surcharge. I've complained to them, got no response. Don't use Hutchinson, you'll regret it.

Have used them and the company they bought to service mini-split system for more than ten years and found them mostly responsive and competent. This week, when I called for service, they first hadn't heard of me and then said they didn't service mini-split systems. After explaining prior years of service they made an appointment (grudgingly) only to cancel two days later with the mantra we don't do mini-split service.

Overall, Hutchinson has been answering my problems quickly with same day technician along with same day quote. While I wait, all of 3 days for my AC to get fixed they offered to send stand up window units to keep it cool in the meantime. Technician and delivery driver JoQuan Carter went above and beyond installing my stand up unit in a windows that are not standard windows nor fit any units.

He was respectful, kind, and efficient. My home is nice and cool while I wait for the unit to be fixed in 3 days. So far very impressed by Hutchinson, their staff, and their prices.

I had an A/C service Monday 5/25 2pm for a bad contactor on a 13 seer 4 ton Goodman unit - not knowing how much the price really was, technician quoted $760 which I assumed was up charged as normal but after the service, search on google revealed part price range from $15 to $66 only. I had contacted Hutchinson customer service by phone immediately after the service (2:32pm) to voice my concern/displeasure but 24hrs later I still have not received a call back. Invoice check was cashed next day but still waiting for my actual invoice via email. I believe that this is price gouging and would open a case/complaint with BBB & NJ Consumer Affairs.

Company sent out a flyer advertising a $79.00 AC tune-up that also comes with up to 1 lb. of refrigerant free with service. We needed 1 lb. 10 oz. of refrigerant added and were THEN told that there is a 2 lb. minimum charge for the refrigerant and we basically needed 3 lbs. added to receive the promotion. The coupon says NOTHING about this minimum anywhere.

I will post to coupon below. This coupon was sent to hundreds, if not thousands of people who might fall into the same deception as we did. It is really a shame that regular people who need AC repairs in the summer are scammed this way. All they will offer you if you call and explain the frustration is $87.00 back, which is a drop in the bucket of what the total charges were. Especially when the coupon is a flat out lie!

The customer services is awful. no one picks up the phone. I was supposed to have some one here between 12-4 and nothing. not even a call the customer service manager Sandy was supposed to take care of this. nothing.

Jake Duncan was my technician for my air conditioner checkup for this year. He was absolutely perfect in everything and explained everything he did. He was meticulous and precise in his approach to the tasks and wisely checked with me prior to providing a much needed value added service for my blower blade which hadn't been done in some time.

This is my first ever Google review and it's quite disappointing. On 4/29, Technician (Jacob) came to my home for maintenance check on my Cooling System. This is not my first time using them. I've had 2 previous services and all went well. Jacob arrived and informed me that my unit is old and needs replacement. I knew my unit is past life expectancy but it has been working great and I was not interested in replacement until it fails on me. Needless to say immediately after he left i started experiencing issues.

Loud noises and now no air. Immediately the next day I contacted Hutchinson and completed a survey. On May 2, customer relations Sandy contacted and stated a supervisor will follow up with me. Well, no supervisor followed up with me. On 5/6, I called again and spoke to Ashley who informed me there were notes and supervisor George will call me back. I have yet to receive a call back, which is so disrespectful. I will be following up with a visit to the office. Someone WILL address this matter.

1st - the tech they sent (Fernando Reyes) was pleasant and professional. He analyzed the problem - the main problem is the system is over 40 years old. His advice - replace the system, which meant calling back to schedule someone else from the company to give an estimate. NOW - here is the problem. While on the phone scheduling this 1st appointment, I was told that there would be a $20 fuel fee for the technician to come out, which would be deducted if we proceeded with the work.

Quite understandable with the current price of gasoline. When done giving us his prognosis and advice to replace the system he said the bill for today was $116.95, which included the fuel fee and a DISPATCH FEE, of which I was never informed. I don't like surprises, especially ones that cost me money for nothing. 1 hour of time and the drive to the house actually cost the company $0.00.

Pretty good deal for them since I paid for the guys time and fuel to get here. The company that came yesterday spent almost 3 hours here, working up an estimate to replace the system and it didn't cost a penny.' Can you guess which HVAC company I will be calling to do our project?

I currently have a membership with then and during on of there appionments, they discussed a air purification system. At that time, I did not want it but this week I called to option pricing and set an appointment for installation. I HAVE LITERALLY CALLED over 7 times, requested a manager to call me and every time they have transferred me to dispatch. where I have waited for over 30 minutes to get someone on the line.

But no one answers. I was really hoping to get them to install the air purification system since their actually service was good. But, I will be looking to take my business somewhere else. Very unfortunate. Tanya M

We have a contract with Hutchinson and felt that the humidifier wasn't working properly. According to the thermostat, the humidity in the house during the winter, has been between 29% and 30%. That is extremely low. A technician came out and looked at the heater and said everything was working fine. We even asked him to check the humidifier. The air was very dry and the house was getting really dusty.

We called a friend who is a facilities director and he came and looked at it. Unfortunately, the filter was filthy and had never been checked or changed, which is why there was extra dust in the house and the dry air. We bought our own filter and replaced it ourselves. This is the second time we had a problem with this company. We will not be renewing the contract.

Update to my review: As I previously mentioned my salesman represented to me in July that he was selling me an energy efficient HVAC system. After spending 13 hours installing the system the installer gave me the paperwork for the system which showed that it was the least energy efficient unit. My latest PSEG bill for my little townhouse was $1340 even though I turn the heat way down when I leave for work in the morning.

I asked Hutchinson to honor the clause in their contract that states if I am dissatisfied with the unit for any reason in the first year they will refund my money paid. They have refused to honor the contract. Therefore? I am bringing suit for the $12,000 plus the $1000 extra per month for my gas and electric bills. I have never dealt with such a dishonest and unreputable company.

I have used this company for many years. They are sending me emails every day with offers and ads. I called on Monday because my toilet is leaking. I was given an appointment for Wednesday. After I stayed home from work and waited for half a day and no-one showed up I called back and I was told that they are not serving my area anymore! Why was I given an appointment on Monday and had to wait for 2 days with a broken toilet if they are not serving my area anymore? This is how they treat a customer of many years. I am beyond disgusted!

I have used Hutchinson for years. They are more expensive than others but I have trusted their work. Recently we had an issue with our heater. They came out and resolved the problem and informed us that we needed a new hot water heater and that there was an issue with the vent going outside that they would fix when changing the water heater. Hutchinson came out the next day and replaced the water heater.

They said there was a problem with a back draft but we had to call someone else to fix it. I didn't understand. I tried over 2 days to get a hold of a manager or someone in charge to explain to me what was going on. No one called me back. Finally, I called for the third time. a dispatch said he talked to a manager, and they would send a "senior technician out".

The senior technician was extremely nice but he was not very knowledgeable. His responses" I don't know","call the office", or" I was wrong my manager said." The back draft was now melting my new hot water heater. All I wanted was a manager to call me and explain what the issue was and how to fix it. I did get the issue fixed. It was 3 feet of birds nest droppings that could of caught fire and/or the gases could come back inside the house.

My issue with Hutchinson is you cannot speak with a boss if you have an issue, and the vent issue should have been fixed BEFORE they put the hot water heater in. I would not know that, but Hutchinson should.

We've used Hutchinson recently for a leak in our crawl space. Rich Wilson from the company came and diagnosed the problem quickly. He was very professional and explained all potential scenarios when half of the crawl space was under water. He was able to repair the pipe which was recently installed by another plumbing company (obviously bad installation).

He was able to trouble shoot and was able to ensure no other leakage. I do not think many plumbers would have been able to get into that crawl space to conduct the repair. I will use Hutchinson and Rich again for sure. Many customers rate 1 star thinking it is expensive. What is more expensive is using an incompetent company that will cost you more by mistakes.

Furnace pump was running but not circulating hot water. Technician came out and quoted me $521 to replace the igniter. I purchased one on Amazon for under $15 and it took me 5 minutes to change it. Called to speak to a manager about price-gouging, no call back. What a joke! Oh and we had a service plan with them too. Horrible business.

Great company to use for fast, clean, reliable service. Installed new heating and cooling systems and new duct work in my home. Excellent job completed. Professional, honest, clean, arrived on time, and a hard working team. They haven't been in business for 60 years by sitting on their laurels. I am 65 years old and my parents used and recommended Hutchinson to me, great company to deal with.

I cannot stress how happy and satisfied my wife and I are with the completion of all the work. If you are searching for a fair, honest, reliable company to service your home for any heating, A/C, or plumbing work look no further. We Highly recommend Hutchinson.

Zero trust and once done with an existing service agreement I will never do business with them again. Their technicians are fine, their back office and customer support is less than impressive. Start with a new HVAC installation on a brand new house last year where they never cleaned the ducts and undersized a intake duct return resulting in excessive noise.

Continue on to pre-paying for a all inclusive service agreement with 2 annual visits. They apparently forgot. I had to call and remind them. They apparently did not properly record I pre-payed for a all inclusive agreement. As a result I was charged during the inspection for a repair which the tech then realized should not have been charged. Its now 3 weeks and no credit. Call the office, "we will get back to you", ask for management and they require "24-48 hours to return a call". You probably want nothing to do with Hutchinson.

I booked an appointment with them and later they canceled claiming it was a commercial zone only. This area is predominantly residential. Absolutely ridiculous!

The technician was very good at resolving my issue, less than 20 minutes. The capacitor and one other part had to be replaced in my air conditioning unit. I was then told that I could save $50.00 if I would allow a sales person to come out. That person wanted to sell me a replacement of my heater and air conditioner for $25k - 17K. We had nothing else to do that day so I let him go through his pitch.

None of that was an issue. My issue was that I don't get the discount and a the price they charged for the replacement parts was out wat too high. I looked the part up online and they were $15.00 to $20.00. What I was charged for this parts were way out of line.

I have used Hutchinson for several years on their "worry free" program. Each year we hear a different story of how our system is old and non compliant. Hutch wants us to ditch our old working system and drop 20k on a new one! This last visit to fix our AC system(which they installed years ago). The tech that came out flat out lied about a problem that we did not previously had. Trust is everything in business. I do not trust Hutchinson and would tell you to steer clear.

Unprofessional service. Written hard copy of the estimate detailing services to be performed not available. Document was shown on a iPad with Total dollars only. Don't recall seeing a breakout by service and the associated cost for each projects. Two different issues were identified and I thought the estimate covered both problems. after completing the work on one problem, I was told the estimate didn't include both problems.

I would never had agreed to their services had I been given a hard copy of the estimate. The cost was extremely excessive for the work performed. Adding insult to injury, the tech was going to leave without giving me an invoice. I had to request an invoice for a $500+ job. His explanation was an invoice would be e-mailed to me. I'm still waiting.

There will be no callback for the other plumbing project. I'm not even sure the work described in the verbal estimate is required or accurate. I don't trust the tech. I should have read the Yelp reviews prior to contacting Hutchinson. There seems to be a common trend here! I would not recommend Hutchinson to family or friends.

Beware of Hutchinson they only have one goal is to tell you your system is no good and make the money to install a new one I thought I'd give them a try since I know one of the sales executives my air-conditioning was blowing warm they came out I told them I believe the Freon was low they checked it and agreed they put 11/2 pounds of Freon in my system and charged me $500 totally ridiculous please get recommendations from small mom and pop heating and air-conditioning companies before you do any business with this company I have been told by my friend their number one goal is to sell you new equipment shame on them! Update I was contacted by a manager though it was too late we called the supervisor at least 6 Times with no return calls not looking for a refund or a discount just want people to know what they are dealing with when you deal with this company.

Hutchinson was purchased by Horizon Services September of 2020. It is not the same local company. Unless you want the corporate chaos with insane charges and upselling, move on.quickly. We had made a recent call for service on our hvac system and didn't know that things had changed. Really strange when the repair guy, a total stranger, hands you their cell phone to talk to someone in sales during covid. Felt like he was sharing his dinner fork and feeding me to the devil. Didn't get more than a few words in before we said "enough" and parted ways with a $140 bill and not even an offer to repair.typical "you need a whole new system".

Made an appointment for an HVAC check up and they needed 2 week lead time, which is fine. Then the day of my appointment, they call to cancel. "We don't have a tech that can spend time on a check up today." Seems pretty unprofessional to take appointments only to cancel them the day of. But then I'm offered to reschedule.over 3 weeks out! What's to stop them from canceling that one the day of because they have more "important" jobs that popped up that day? Epitome of a terrible company that is willing to take your $10K to install a system, and now that your requests are not "lucrative" anymore to just dick you around.
