Started working with the folks at Henry Smith in December. I've been impressed with their dedication to their customers and commitment to the legacy that Bartt and his father, Henry ("Hank") built over the last 70 years.

Really disappointed in this company: The Henry Smith Plumbing, Heating & Cooling (Elkhart). I TOTALLY FEEL CHEATED! First they completely missed to show up at thr first scheduled appointment, someone took of from work to be there, but most upsetting is the outrages charges for the little service I received. My $185 quote including trip charge for an hour of work (no parts used since he couldn't fix the fitting; just some pipe paste turned into a $300 bill! WOW!

I never was told would be that high, and feel totally cheated! SHAME ON YOU Henry Smith Plumbing and Heating, you definitely shouldn't list affordable on your website, charging me $300 for an hour on site, even including trip charge, no parts, . I don't call that affordable!

The plumber came 12/2/19 for a slow sink drain and leaky faucets in bathroom sink and tub. He said both needed to be replaced. $600 for the sink, $1300 for the tub! I was honestly appalled at the ridiculously high prices. I did have him clear the drain. Refused to pay the exorbitant prices to have him replace the faucets. To make matters worse the plumber turned off the main water to the house.

When he turned it back on it was dripping fast which is how he left it. (About a gallon an hour) He had me call the city to mark the water shutoff. He would then be happy to return and replace the inside shutoff valve for another $600 + $85 service charge! What a ripoff! My son replaced the sink faucet for under $50 and repaired the tub faucet for about $70.

The city came to replace my water meter (they are upgrading, replacing all in city). He tightened the nut on the shutoff valve. That is all it took! Do not trust them! The over-inflated pricing is ridiculous.

The service man talked about the maintenance contact but didn't do anything but clean the igniter (just a few minutes) but charged I guess for telling us how everything was wrong on the furnace including the installation. Last year the service man did the same thing and charged service call $85.00 plus one hour labor. Total $135.00. This guy charged the $85.00 for service call plus for a total of $284.50.

I didn't want to pay him to talk. What a rip off, we had used this company for many years but NEVER again! To make it worse I think this guy was the owner. Not a very bad good way to run the business. Lost our business and anyone we can tell to not call them for service.

Our business, WakeSide Marine, had issues with our heating system over the holidays. Henry Smith's answering service was responsive and professional. A technician called us back within a short amount of time and gave us detailed advice and suggested that it was not necessary for an after hours appointment. We appreciated them being honest and fair. The technician met us on the next regular business day and had our system working within a short amount of time. I would highly recommend them.

I can't say enough about how great the technician was that came to fix our tankless water heater. We had only been in our new house about 2 months when the problems escalated with the water heater. The technician spent almost 4 hours working on it. He had never seen a problem like what he found: dead stinkbugs throughout the entire unit! He then went up into the attic and found that the exhaust piping had been installed incorrectly (straight instead of at an angle) and made the necessary changes.

I was expecting an outrageous bill and was shocked by the amount. When I told him I was surprised at the charge, he said he had never seen a problem like what he found at our house, so it took him longer to make everything right. And he felt it wasn't our fault that he had to take so long; therefore, he charged the normal service call. My husband and I were so impressed that we called the company the next day to let them know that would have all of our future heating and plumbing business. What a great way to do business!

I was left completely mortified today after Henry Smith plumbing came to my house. I asked for 2 hose bibs be replaced and a leaky PVC piped fixed. I was quoted at $430 for the job. I said go ahead. Not even a half hour later, he was done. He replaced the PVC pipe (1 ft long). Instead of replacing both hose bibs, he put a new rubber washer in the back hose bib and didn't touch the front hose.

He said it was fine. My bill was still $430. I can't even believe these people are still in business conning people out of their money. I will do everything in my power to spread the word about Henry smith plumbing.

CROOKS! They tried to scam me! The plumber from Henry Smith stated that he couldn't remove the anode rod due to corrosion. He said that my water heater was 1 year out of warranty and that I needed to replace it. He quoted me 1450.00 and charged me 218 for the diagnostic. I felt both were high, and when I called the office to confirm, they stated I was overcharged and refunded me 35$.

I called 2 other plumbers and both said they would install and remove the old for 350 if I supplied the tank (400). HALF THE PRICE! I hired I CON to do the job. When the new plumber arrived, he showed me that the manufacture date printed on the hot water heater was March 2016 and that I had 5 years left minimum on my warranty! He was also able to remove the anode rod without a problem. He is returning the water heater and I am ordering a replacement anode rod that can be installed for 100 dollars. DON'T TRUST THIS COMPANY!

I found these guys after my current local heating company never showed up to quote my new furnace. Glad I called them. The sales estimator showed up on time and gave me a fair price. The installers did a great job and even cleaned up their mess! Great experience overall.

I purchased a Honeywell home standby generator from this company and found their honesty and integrity to be excellent. They did a very nice installation, took no shortcuts, and everything was done as initially agreed. I have to also commend Schwartz Electric who did the electrical portion of the project for Henry Smith PHC, Overall I am very pleased. Just waiting for the power to go down now, so I can enjoy my new purchase.
