Gentry was very responsive to our initial call and followed through with continued responses that were timely. They were proactive in ensuring their internal departments were following up. So thankful I have found Gentry Service Group. Albert was very knowledgeable and repaired my HVAC fiasco from prior technicians. While the gentleman that came to my house was very nice, he informed my wife that Gentry's didn't have the correct equipment to clean my ducts. First, Gentry's should send out an inspector to assess the type and size duct work a customer has in their home. I have waited since December 28 for my ducts to be cleaned and today is February 28. Time is valuable and 60 days was wasted. I am not happy that folks can't run a business properly. I will not recommend Gentry's although they were referred by a rather large church in Haywood County.

Waited a week for an appt today between 11am-1pm. No one showed up and when we called to see when they would be here we were told they did not even have a record of our appt. So back to the drawing board of finding a company that will show up.

I needed a mini split moved and a thermostat added, and needed it to be done pronto. Justin, James, and Jason handled everything professionally and spent a lot of time helping me understand my Mitsubishi mini split system. Fast service and very responsive. I couldn't be happier with gentry heating and cooling and so glad I called them.

Lies and more lies. Turned my emergency heat off and said they would be back to fix it, 2 weeks later, nothing. Called them this morning and they said the service tech was on his way to my house. 2 hours later, called them back and was told that the service tech would call me. 2 hours later, called them back and they said they would come to my house and fix the problem when it got warmer. Lol what a joke of a company. Used to be a good company but not anymor. So sad. I'm recuperating from cancer and it's very cold in my house. Thank you Gentry heating for nothing

Albert was very professional and knowledgeable. He replaced a motor in one of our ductless Carrier units and cleaned every component of the unit. We are very pleased that he returned the unit to "like new" condition. Thank you Gentry! Service: Repair HVAC

As a real estate agent, I have a lot of contact and communication with service professionals in the Asheville area and quality service always makes an impact on me. Albert at Gentry inspected a mini split system for a client of mine and was not only professional and on time, he was friendly and helpful. I had a lot of questions about the system and he didn't hesitate to give me the "full rundown" of how the system worked.

The home inspector happened to be there at the same time and we both listened as Albert explained things to us. I can't express what a value it is to work with people willing to share their knowledge. Chris Taylor at Gentry was absolutely fantastic. He is one of the most knowledgeable individuals I have ever worked with. He was patient, professional, and had a answer for every picky question that I had. It was obvious that he is up to speed on the very latest technology available. His many years of experience were evident. The quote he gave was easy to understand and listed everything I could think to ask, and more.

I learned a thing or two during our discussions and his calm personality was comforting to say the least. I felt like he understood our situation and was committed to getting us the system that we needed. I would highly recommend Gentry for industrial applications.

My experience with Gentry Heating & Air was awesome! Just for the record they are no relation to me and I never dealt with them before. They installed a ductless air system in our vacation home and then replaced our old units at our home in SC. They were very responsive, always on time and did what we expected. The crew installing our 2 units were so professional and had great attitudes. I would recommend them to anyone needing a new unit or any repairs.

Overall I am not happy with my experience with this company. They did not seem to understand what my expectations were for the work I had requested. They were slow to respond and there was an overall lack of communication. There also seemed to be some miscommunication between who first came and looked at the house and saw what was needed to be done, who I spoke with on the phone to set this up and who was doing the the work on the house.

This resulted in them having to come back out and fixing what had been done and it ended up costing me more than I had expected and taking twice as long to get done. 3 stars for the installer doing good work, being very friendly, and happy with the fully completed ductwork. But not happy the whole experience and the company as a whole.

Well after the last review I posted I am forced to upgrade my review since I did get an excellent response from Gentry in regard to upgrading the thermostats in my home. The technician who called me was extremely knowledgeable and at this point I now know what is the best approach to doing the upgrade. I appears that my emails and phone calls somehow went astray and/or never got to the right person at Gentry. It was emphasized that they do care about their residential customers. My faith in Gentry at this point has been restored.

Of course our air conditioning stops in the middle of a heat wave. When else? I called over the weekend and opted not to have the same day service because it was late and we didn't. They called me back this morning with a cancellation and were here within the hour. James took such good care of us and I can feel the cold air blowing as I type. Sweet, Carolina relief! We were customers of Asheville Air and rolled over to Gentry and have been really satisfied.

Gentry installed the HVAC in our brand new (1 year old) townhome in Asheville. We've gone from no heat in March to no AC in July. They've been here countless times. Each time Gentry attempts a repair but they seem to lack knowledge on how to fix the system they installed. Additionally, they leave and tell us they have to order a part or contact the manufacturer but a week and sometimes two weeks later, we are the ones reaching out to get status reports.

After 3 months of multiple repair attempts on our 4th-floor unit last evening, we thought it might be finally fixed. UNBELIEVABLY we now find ourselves worse off. This morning the entire system failed and we have NO AIR CONDITIONING in ANY ROOM. It's going to be 89 today. We have a call into their "weekend tech", but based on prior experience it appears we are well and truly. (fill in the blank)

Our air conditioner went out the night before Memorial Day. After I called Gentry, John Connelly, the service man on call, phoned us within a few minutes and was at our home in less than an hour. He changed our compressor and in minutes, we had cold air! I would highly recommend this company! Very professional and friendly!

We have had a contract w Gentry for several years. This fall, our heating system was running hot and the initial repair person could not diagnose the problem. But Gentry sent out a second repair person Chris who was very professional and competent. There was no charge for this follow up visit. I found the administration to be very responsive and helpful

We are very pleased with our new units. We got a heat pump and A/C unit and a split unit for our upstairs attic bedroom. They all work splendidly. The installation was pretty painless, though the technicians had to install both units in terrible weather. None of them complained but I know they were miserable. It rained and rained. I guess I should say it was painless for us.

The techs really had a sloppy job and I know they went home covered in mud everyday. We have had a couple of questions since the units were installed this spring and, every time we called, someone has been out quickly. Everyone we have worked with from Gentry has been super friendly and very helpful. I'm so glad we chose this company for our new equipment.

I am extremely impressed with the professionalism exhibited by Gentry service technicians and phone staff. I had a problem with my generator and Gentry came out to service it the very next day after I called. The technician showed up as scheduled and worked for an hour to service it. He got it running again, but there was a internal problem with the motor outside the scope of what Gentry services.

Because the problem wasn't completely resolved, Gentry did not charge me for the service call. I don't know any other company that would work for an hour and not charge me. I used Gentry to install the heat pump system for my home 10 years ago and have always called them for service because they're reliable and honest.

I was impressed by the technicians who serviced my units. Upfront about minor findings and very professional. Most importantly to me is that I trust this company to only do work that is required. The annual service charge is about 20% more than I had to spend in a significantly larger city for equivalent work, but I'm coming to expect higher rates in Asheville on many things.

Our a/c kept freezing up and was getting uneven airflow with the dampers. Called another company and totally upsold us to needing a whole new system. Which made no sense to me. And told me could not do the work for a month. People told to call Gentry as they have a good reputation. Will came out did an evaluation concluded the problem and gave us a proposal only needing what needed to be replaced. Tony ordered the parts & within a week the job was complete. While it cost us $1,800 it was substantially less then our quote from a respected competitor which was totally upsold Will did a great job and explained everything to us.

Requested a service call in January, 2017 when my system (which had never been serviced since the home was built in 2010) seemed to be struggling. Signed up for the service plan at that time and just had my first of two tune ups for the year from technician, Chadd Kittle. He arrived on time, was polite, focused, and completed the entire tuneup in about an hour. Very pleased and looking forward to a similar experience at my next tuneup in the fall.

Gentry installed the heating and cooling in our new house six years ago. Their employe who designed our system insisted that we did not need separate thermostat systems for the part of house over a basement and parts on a concrete slab. He stood by it when questioned if that would work. The result has been temperatures that are freezing in winter in our bedroom and bathroom, 10 degrees or more colder than the living room.

We often have to supplement the heat in our bedroom with a space heater because of the difference. Heavy blankets on our beds aren't enough. We also have to heat our bathroom with extra heat. It has been really hard living with this and greatly raises our electricity use and cost.

I've used them every year just to do tune ups on my oil HVAC. I honestly haven't had any problems but they do take a long time to schedule each fall -- although i do wait till "busy season" to schedule so that is their reason. I haven't had any issues and my HVAC has worked great the past 7 years from having yearly tune ups. My only complaint is that i really don't think it should take so long to schedule a basic tune up and i may try a new company who can come out quicker.

We recently had our entire HVAC system replaced by Gentry. The sales guy, John, was very knowledgeable and did a great job explaining what needed to be replaced and crafted a solution that best fit our house. The quote was slightly lower than the other two places we called. The communication was excellent. We knew who was coming and when and they showed up on time and were clean and timely.

The follow up was great since we had a filter on another system that needed to be replaced and they came back the next week, as promised, and took care of it. I would highly recommend them if you need HVAC work done. Our system has only been in place a month or so. It's probably too early to rate the performance of the overall system until heavy heating and cooling is needed. First impressions are quite high.
