Blackie's was founded in 1926 by William B. Murray, originally as Automatic Engineering Co. Murray came to Danville from Washington in the mid-1920s to sell railroad companies a new piece of train equipment he invented. Once that transaction was finished, he liked the area so much he decided to stay.
NATE certified technicians have proven their knowledge in the HVACR industry by passing specialized NATE certification tests. NATE certification tests represent real-world working knowledge of HVACR systems. Developed by a committee of industry experts nationwide, NATE exams represent HVACR topics pertinent to contractors, educators, manufacturers and utilities alike.

We've been customers of Blackies for over 7 years. As part of our remodel, we've had new AC, extensive duct work, regular maintenance, new thermostats and vents. pretty much everything. Through all of it, Blackie's has been fairly priced, highly responsive, easy to work with, and they show up when they say they're going to show up. There staff is honest, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I've recommended them to several people who are also now loyal customers!

Our Central air unit was making loud noises. I called Blackie's and they came out and gave me an estimate. Because the unit was 23 years old we decided to get a new unit installed rather than repair this one. So we scheduled to have it installed within a weeks time. Within two days our unit completely died. The heat index was over 100°. I called Jerry Patterson and he said he would take care of things.
With in an hour we had a repairman from Blackie's here. They installed the part that we needed to keep our old unit functioning until they could get a new unit installed. They did all of this free of charge. The next week the repairman came and installed our new unit and it's working perfectly. I can't say enough good things about this company. From Jerry to Jason and the two who installed the unit, I think their names were David but I can't remember the younger ones name.
They were all so kind and caring. So professional yet personable and knowledgeable. I can't imagine ever finding another company with this kind of service these days! It reminded me of good old fashioned service. They all went above and beyond and we couldn't be more pleased.

Blackie's installed our HVAC system 10 or more years ago; very professional, prompt service; learned and kind technicians. I appreciate how quiet, efficient, and high quality is the equipment. We participate in their scheduled maintenance program and have had no problems at all- the maintenance program catches tiny issues before they become major problems.

I contacted this company from out of state because a friend of mine was without heat and could not afford to have it looked at and fixed. This company worked with me. They went out and looked at her furnace and fixed her heater all at a discounted price. I had a fundraiser going to pay what needed to be paid and they graciously waited for payment.
They didn't make my friend wait until they got paid to get her heat working. They waived the amount they charge to diagnose and threw in extras to help her out. This company cares about the person. We need more people like this in our world. They weren't worried about money. They were worried about my friend. When looking for a company to do business with I think integrity should be on the list of expectations and this place has it in spades!

We have utilized Blackie's services since we bought our house, August 1993. They come twice a year, once to service the air conditioner and once to service the furnace. We rarely need their services other than that because they do a great job of maintenance. We had them install our new furnace when it was needed. They have always done what they said they would do, when they said they would do it, at the price they said they would do it for. I would always recommend their service to anyone!

I have had two experiences with the company in the recent past I'm giving two stars simply because yes my problem was fixed. Long story short new house, we have no clue what systems are in here yada yada. We actually have two separate units, our first call was made during the winter about not having adequate heat when it became very cold. The tech showed up to look at it said oh you have a heat pump system, there is a wire not hooked properly in your thermostat to allow for emergency heat, less than an hour at the house bam everything is fine, until the bill came.
They wanted $175 for this minimal project I couldn't believe it, so we called to ask how this could be and during the conversation he admitted they go off of a labor book and they honestly don't really have anything in the book to know what to classify it as so it may have been over charged. But they have a policy that if you are not satisfied you don't need to pay or pay what you think so we thought wow that's great service, we sent they something to the effect of 125 and thought that was more than fair.
The great policy and willingness to correct brought us back to them a second time here more recently to address the other unit not adequately cooling, so they show up say oh this is also a heat pump and your thermostat back here is also not wired correctly. 40 minutes at the house and a fixed wire later they want 195! Needless to say we are not happy once again. This is 25 more than last time for the same exact thing, keep in mind these are not emergency calls. So once again we will be having to go through this issue.
