I had the same experience as Chris. I have been a loyal customer for over 30 years and called years ago to make sure I was locked into a certain price because we have 2 properties with them. They said yes not to worry we had the same rate at both homes. they never said I had to sign anything but they make sure they send me a service contract to pay for every year which is a lot higher than most other oil companies.

I got a bill in April for a little over $2,000 which is crazy. I called and they said if you want to lock into a rate we will have it as you don't pay more than $6.10 per gallon. Are they out of their minds, I am shopping around for quotes and got one for $4.699 with a 12 month contract. Petra has since called me a few times saying they are sorry to hear I may be moving to another company I said offer me a better rate which they still have not.

I understand costs go up but this is not how you treat loyal customers or any customer when you don't offer them the loyalty program and locked in rate. Very disappointing. Also I basically never write reviews on line.

1981 I started using PETRO and have been loyal to the bone with all my properties using this company. My latest oil bill was $ 8.999 per gallon of oil. I called to discuss the bill to learn that they have a loyalty program that you can lock in the oil rate per gallon. I can't believe they felt it unimportant to notify a customer of 40 years that such a program exists.

They are very conscientious to bill and follow up on billing but fall short on staying in touch with beneficial programs that are available! I would have locked you in every possible chance I could have had I known that program existed especially seeing how oil has been soaring all the time since last election!

(Minus 5 should be the rating). After maintaining commercial contracts with Petro, I hired them to handle two a/c condensors where we just moved. Immediately after installation -- first time system was operated, large flooding (and property damage) occurred. The returned and claimed they "fixed it" -- only to have more property damage and loss!. Their Customer Service would not take responsibility for their shoddy work.

Their worker claimed (in spite of their marketing efforts) that "they don't really do hvac -- and that they specialize in oil delivery." Do Not Use This Company unless you are willing to take an expensive risk.

Petro Home Services is located in 212 Elm Street in North Haven CT 06473 800 645 4328. ***BIRDEYE REVIEW OF 5 STAR REVIEW is fraudulent since it does not allow posting of one star review*** On 3/22/2022 I was charged $6.149 per gallon of oil. I spoke with the merchant after checking the going rate of the price of oil in CT on 3/23/2022 which was from $4-$4.5 a gallon.

The merchant bulked and denied any wrong doing or price gouging. Not according to the CT State law! I reported Petro to the State. "Price gouging or profiteering is illegal in the State of Connecticut. It occurs when the price of an item is substantially increased during certain types of declared emergencies. In some cases, the Governor has the option to impose price restrictions on certain products or services due to short supply.

Price fluctuations that occur during the normal course of business do not constitute price gouging. If you have concerns about price gouging or profiteering or need instructions about how to file a complaint, please contact the Department of Consumer Protection by visiting www.ct.gov/dcp/complaint. You may start the process of filing a complaint online at www.elicense.ct.gov. "

I signed up for an oil contract in May 2021 when we bought our new home in Quakertown. I had no billing issues for the past year. Always paid my bill after delivery. I contacted Petro recently and spoke to a Daniel in customer service dept who was not helpful and even condescending. He sounded about 20 years old which was a red flag and i should have just hung up and called back.

I called to pay my balance, and explained to him that we are in the process of switching over to a heat pump and so we do not need anymore excess oil delivered. I did not want to pay the balance (only like $100) until I spoke to someone because once you pay they automatically send another truck out to refill. I needed to arrange for a stop on oil delivery and possibly just a small delivery of oil to get us thru the remaining month.

He told me he could NOT do that, and that the minimum would be a full fill. I said that I did not want a full tank of oil since we will be removing the oil heater end of March. WHY would someone want a full tank of oil delivered in MARCH when you're tearing out the oil tank at the end of the month. I asked Daniel if he understood and he responded "Kind of" Seemed pretty logical but Daniel could not comprehend.

He then said well sorry maam we have your account listed for cancellation for non payment. Uhm I was calling to pay and discuss a situation I needed rectified. He handled the call SO poorly and never even got my payment. Daniel needs mentoring on his customer service skills. I did ask for a manager since I needed to talk to someone who could think outside the box.

He advised someone would call me back. Nobody called me back. I had every means to pay the $100 balance and it had nothing to do with an inability to pay the bill, it was merely to keep them from auto refilling. This company is terrible with billing and customer service. The reps read off a script and can't think outside the box. When you need to escalate a call you CANT.

Thank goodness March has been mild and we haven't needed to use the remaining little oil left or we would have been without heat because of this stupid company. I will continue to share my story with every neighbor and friend who use oil and I will continue to warn them not to use Petro. You're better off using a small town mom and pop oil company like IT Landes. Additionally if you live in the Quakertown area expect the loud oil truck to show up at 6am and wake you up every time you get a fill. This company does not care about their customers needs.

Had a contract with Petro last year with a ceiling price of $2.60. This morning 2/8/2022 received oil delivery with a price of $4.17. This is their price gouging without my signing a contract with them. Did receive a letter from them stating they would continue delivery. This was not to my satisfaction as I tried calling on the phone leaving 2 messages.

I realize oil prices have increased but No one returned my call. Got a price quote from another oil company with a ceiling price cap of $3.40. 0n speaking with a supervisor this morning she could only change the bill to $3.80 a gallon. Not to my liking as I would have agreed if they at least would have matched the price from another oil company. This is not the first time they gave me a problem. They are a dishonest company that I will never deal with again.

What absolute horror show this company is - you used to be so great and now you are appalling. You left me with an empty tank twice, now to overcompensate you deliver oil every three weeks. I was just talking to a driver, his truck was running and I had to shot out to him. I asked how much oil was in my tank, and I said "I know it's not your fault", in reference to the issues I am having with your company - he said "It isn't so I don't need the attitude." Because he is a sexist and thinks he can talk to women like they are garbage.

Like your customer service. He surveyed my property in a very suspicious and concerning way in order to make me feel unsafe, while he was on the phone with someone, then got in his truck and drove away without answering my question.

Worst customer service I've ever did business with. Took off from work on 2 different days with 4 hour time windows. Both days never showed or called to say they were not coming. Im waiting for propane to cook an$ thank god its not for heat! Find a local company; you've been warned

For 20 years Petro serviced my boiler and filled my oil tank. Recently I got a second opinion after they refused to answer a service call. Turns out, they had cut the sensor to our steam returns to increase the oil burned, and also installed the furnace in such a way that the boiler destroyed itself by having the water levels too low thus destroying steam sections and coils.

While installing it improperly may just be incompetence, 20 years with a cut sensor is beyond that. At the very least, do not have your system serviced by the same oil company that fills your tank. The incentive is to cheat you.

Got a postcard in the mail for $125 "free" heating oil with an 877 number. Their phone system is a mess but once you get by that their customer support is worse. Forget getting an answer to any question you might have until they get ALL the answers to their questions. Then comes the high-pressure sales pitch. And while I didn't sign with them my guess is after you sign you experience the bait and switch.

There are many automatic oil delivery strategies to prevent delivery companies from losing money eg topping off automatic delivery tanks when the market price drops, etc. so you really need to do your homework on your company. Trust is essential. Talking to Sam (salesperson) or Kim (supervisor) wasn't a confidence builder for trust. I felt like I was talking to people that didn't listen.

They were determined to get their points across to someone they viewed as a "beginner". I've been buying oil for 40 years I think I get better service out of my local "fly by night" company than this "full service" company. Glad we got the argument out of the way right from the beginning so I didn't make the mistake of signing with them! Update: As all can see Jenna from Petro responded.

The message was not sincere. I followed the directions Jenna provided. I was contacted by a regional manager. However, that manager was unfamiliar with the situation and was not empowered to take any action. At this point, I'm confused as to why Jenna requested a call. I can only assume it was a false pretense targeted at other yelpers.

Be careful with how they word things when you speak with them. Just had the experience of them telling me that their "average" oil cost is more than $1 more than the average oil cost in the area. They claim that this is because they must absorb their business costs. HOWEVER, the ceiling price for returning customers is more than $1.50 more than for new customers. Moral of the story - sign up for a year and then move on.

An absolute joke. Called them to service my boiler and I was given a date that they would show up. Gave me a date and time frame of 8-12. Called back and advised them that I needed them to come at 9 which they stated that it wasn't a problem. Great. Day comes and no service person AND no phone call. Called back the next day and explained the situation. Was instructed, in December, that they wouldn't be able to come back until mid February.

I explained the situation in full and only got an apology when I started making a stink about this. Needless to say that my contract is over in November 2022 and I will NOT be renewing with them. Zero Stars. It's unfortunate how quickly you get forgotten once some of these companies get your money. I'll be shopping around. Update: Within days a customer service representative made an appointment for me, a tech cam in at the targeted window that we mutually picked, and my system was serviced. Thank you Petro for rectifying the problem. I updated to 3 stars. Appreciate it.

Petro started off with good service and reasonable rates. Their service has deteriorated and their prices became too high. The bills kept getting larger and larger. I asked to go on their budget plan, but they refused. Now I use a smaller company, and I am much happier with the prices and the quality of their service. I will never do business with them again

Do not take out the maintenance contract for your heating. Customer service is very poor with very long wait times to speak to the Service Department. You are given a four hour window and no one ever shows up then when you call the Service Department back and wait another 30 minutes on hold they tell that it is a bad day and all they offer you is to reschedule.

I did reschedule and guess what they still did not show. Please stay away from this company they are awful. Save yourself from the aggravation that they dish out to people. They don't treat you like a human being.

I signed a contract, locking in an amazing promotional rate in the summer of 2020 for my first home ever. Petro was professional, quick and courteous for all of our interactions for many months, although I feel they talked me out of needing any service check ups when I felt my system needed it. And, I was never charged a penny less than the maximum, which didn't seem right.

Before my year's contract was up, I talked to Petro about renwal, and I was quoted a rate I felt was not competitive or reflective of actual prices, and was told the service contract rate was increasing significantly. THEN they topped off my tank, just two days before my contract was up. At that point I asked them to put a hold on everything and to charge me the remaining balance on my account, settle up completely and not renew my contract.

I was told no problem, the contract wouldn't be renewed. Instead, my auto pay was doubled. I only found out a MONTH later when my checking account was charged. Then a bill came for the new service contract I never agreed to on top of that. They told me this would be fixed, no problem. ANOTHER month later, I was debited the monthly charge again.

This time they told me it was MY fault for not turning off Auto pay on my account, which I had already felt was closed/stopped twice in two months. At this point I asked to close the entire account, I want all my money back, I never agreed to renew in the first place. For days their customer retention team called me, repeatedly, with new offers and discounts, after I had already asked to close the account. Sadly, they STILL didn't offer a competitive price, and kept telling me their direct competition was out to cheat me, which is obviously a lie.

I demanded my refund again, still confused why it hadn't already been processed. 3 weeks and the refund has STILL not arrived. I was just told it would be ANOTHER 2-3 weeks because they just "approved" it. Why do I have to wait months to get the money refunded that shouldn't have been charged in the first place? I don't think I would ever do business with these guys again.

They will lock you in on a great rate at first. After that be prepared to be taken for a financial ride with them constantly charging your ceiling price regardless of market conditions. "We're a full service company with higher operating costs and protections". ummm your business model is not my problem when it comes to you incessantly calling me to re-sign a contact with you after I have repeatedly said I wasn't interested. Kept saying "I can't possibly list the pamphlet full of benefits to stay with us on the phone. blah blah blah".

All while not listening to me and not listing any benefits which I couldn't debunk. Just kept telling me there were so many benefits without actually telling me any. Then came the service plan. They do have a good service plan. I actually would use them just for the plan, but you can't unless you contract with them for overpriced oil delivery.

They will indirectly bash competition, even make claims that other companies sell bad oil they reclaim in abandoned tanks. that's quite an accusation. And whenever you talk to them they try to rush you into signing because "oil prices are going to drastically increase". They say it every time. If you sign with them, I guarantee your oil prices will drastically increase after your introductory rate. So glad we are done with them. They are manipulative and aggressive.

They come to fill your oil tank without authorization when it's not needed. I asked several times only as per my request to deliver when I am home. They don't listen. Who knows what I get in my tank if I don't witness. Delivery.

Avoid the North Haven branch of Petro for Air Conditioning. They installed a Trane 4 ton condenser and air handler in my Hamden, CT home in June 2021. They did a very poor job of installation and post installation support was terrible. Summary of errors at installation: 1) Killed the grass where they staged the equipment for install. 2) Broke bolts when reinstalling vents (and left them that way). 3) Bent existing vent cover. 4) Broke existing heating sensor (cost me $150 with my HVAC supplier to fix). 5) Most importantly they failed Hamden permit inspection. 6) Installation coordinator, Patty, ghosted me when I called four times for status. Very inprofessional. Management asleep at the wheel. Avoid these clowns.
